Cocoa Farm

In an effort to bring development, provide job opportunities to hundreds of unemployed Liberian adults and youth (male and female) and contribute to growing Liberia’s economy, Redemption Farms was established. It is the biggest privately owned (100% Liberian) non cooperative cocoa farm in Liberia and is located in Salayea District, Lofa County. The cocoa farm, which is still expanding, has already  surpassed 110,000 cocoa trees. To date, the farm has employed more than 500 people. Our target goal is to plant at least 200,000 trees on our more than 200 acres of farmland. The farm will employ more than 100 full time staff and more than 500 temporary and seasonal workers on a yearly basis. Proceeds from this farm will be invested in building a mission on part of the land. The mission will consist of a school, dormitories, science lab, clinic, library, staff quarters, a church etc. The mission will employ more than 75 staff, including teachers.

EJ Legacy Redemption Farms seeks to export premium, organic cocoa to customers around the world by exceeding minimum acceptable quality standards at a fair price. We value our relationship with current and future customers and hope to communicate our appreciation to them through our outstanding, guaranteed product quality, personal service, and efficient delivery. Our commitment to our customers will be reflected through honest and responsible business practices.

EJ Legacy Redemption Farms is not a cooperative farm. It is largely involved in farming organic cocoa and selling the beans to the open market. We buy the cocoa pods from Ivory Coast, make our own nursery, transplant the cocoa to the designated zones, harvest, properly ferment the beans and dry them in a solar dryer to produce the best cocoa beans. Our quality single-sourced beans will then be sold to interested buyers on the open market. During this period of production, we make efforts to employ unemployed people, including women and youth. In conjunction with providing employment, we are also helping to meet the world’s cocoa demands and making Liberia one of the top cocoa producing countries. Businesses from the United States, South Africa, the Middle East and Europe have expressed interest in buying our cocoa beans. However, we have not made any commitment to any buyer at this point.

Other small-scale agricultural products on Redemption Farms include beans, pineapple and plantain, used for local sales. Cassava farming and starch production will soon be added exclusively for our USA customer. We are also involved in animal husbandry. We raise sheep, goats, cows, and chickens. We are very mindful of climate change so we are doing the best to preserve as many trees as possible. We do not engage in child labor and we pay our workers fair wages and pay on time.
